Demonic Pact Calculator

If you have selected to have points in the Demonic Pact talent then the DemonicPact tab will calculate an estimated value of additional DPS this ability grants the raid group and returns the result to the DPS tab.

In order to make this value more accurate there are various settings you can adjust to let the sheet know about your raid composition.

Calculation mode

This setting can have two values, either ‘Simple’ or ‘Complex’.

Simple mode

The simple mode bases it’s calculations on the number of casters in the raid irrespective of their class or spec. This is likely to be less accurate than the complex mode but is quicker to use and does not require detailed raid composition knowledge which is often unavailable when such calculations are performed.

Complex mode

Complex mode works in almost exactly the same way as Simple mode but allows you to enter the number of each class and spec of raid member (caster DPS) and as such returns a more accurate value for the DPS benefit each receives from your Demonic Pact buff.

Spell power from totem

The spell power (SP) bonus from Demonic Pact does not stack with that provided by Shaman totems. The value provided to the raid by either a Flametongue Totem or Totem of Wrath is assumed to be ‘always up’ and so is subtracted from any value provided by Demonic Pact.

The presence of a totem and the SP value associated to it is set within the raid buffs section of the Gear_Buffs tab. A link to this is provided on the DemonicPact tab for convenience.

CancelAura used

The Demonic Pact SP buff does not increase the buff value of Demonic Pact, in other words it does not ‘feed itself’. The shaman totem buffs do increase the SP buff value of Demonic Pact. Because of this, when your Demonic Pact is active on you your SP value is higher but the SP value used to calculate the Demonic Pact buff has reduced by the amount provided by the totem.

What does that mean?
It has been shown that while Demonic Pact does not stack with totems it is still worth having the totems for two reasons:

  1. They maintain a higher minimum SP level in the raid when Demonic Pact is not up.
  2. The Demonic Pact warlock can cancel their own buff to reduce their personal DPS slightly but increase the value of Demonic Pact refreshes to the raid.

The standard way to remove the Demonic Pact buff is to include the following macro line in with your filler spell:

/cancelAura Demonic pact

For example:

#showTooltip Shadow Bolt
/cancelAura Demonic Pact
/cast Shadow Bolt

Uptime

Uptime refers to the percentage of time the Demonic Pact buff is applied to the raid. This is calculated on the Pet_DPS tab.

You can override the uptime setting to match your actual results in raids. These can be found by looking on log-parsing sites such as WorldOfLogs.com.

Number of caster DPS

For ‘Simple mode’ this is just the number of DPS casters in the raid group including Enhancement shamans and excluding the Demonic Pact warlock

This number is multiplied by the DPS increase casters gain from one point of spell power. This amount is only an average of all such values from each of the common classes and specs, as listed in the ‘Complex mode settings’ section, and as such may be quite different from the accurate value for your raid.

Increased accuracy can be gained by using the ‘Complex mode’. This lets you specify the number of caster DPS of each spec within the raid. The list of specs is not exhaustive but does allow close approximation.

Simple and Complex modes are selected via a drop-down menu at the top of the sheet, as detailed above.
