Important: New Raid Schedule and Survey Results.

Hi all, so here's where we're at and apologies for taking longer than we anticipated to inform everyone:

The survey was very handy, thanks to all that contributed. Lets go through some of the key results and what changes come from them.

First off, the majority of people said they wanted to raid 3 times a week.

This is in line with the comments made in the thread that started the conversation but the vast majority of people signing up for raids have averaged between 3.5 and 4 signings as available for the last two expansions.

However, since there is a reduction in the total number of signings on any given raid, then culling one raid from the roster does reduce the options for people and concentrates signups of those that remain. This is a reduction in the flexibility of the guild and so if the number of signings per raid rise again the it will probably be worth reinstating a 4 day raid week. Thus allowing those that want to raid 3 days to choose which one to drop.

So that begs the question, which day to drop?
There's a fairly linear drop off in the number of people who said they are 'Always' available to raid per day. Sunday comes in last of the current days listed.

In the end the decision was made to drop Sunday because it was the least favourable day and historically the most likely to be cancelled due to sign offs.
The new raid schedule will be Wednesday, Friday and Tuesday

We also wanted to look at raid start/finish times and generally the overall duration. The data for this was fairly hard to illustrate but here's a series of charts that with a little fuzzing of the eyes shows what's going on (or you could click on them to see a larger version). Pale green means people would start earlier or finish later. Grey indicates starting later or finishing earlier. Those that answered "Whatever" Duff marked to the end of the scale.

Generally, there was a mix of people that want to finish earlier and while there are some that want to start earlier too there are more that do not. It was felt that an earlier start would exclude people completely at times (unable to get back from work, kiss kids etc.) We also felt that as we have dropped a day, reducing raid times in addition to that was just too much of a loss.
As such the raid start and end times shall remain the same 2100 to 0000 ST

The Officer Team discussed and analysed this data and we also had to take into consideration that the current way we raid just wasn't working for alot of raiders anymore. We felt collectively that this was the fairest change to implement for everyone.

Raid Ninja will be updated at some point over the next couple of weeks in readiness for sign ups for ToS.

it's a good thing it came out before ToS now we can modify our recruitment/raiding propaganda and maybe get a more positive reply out of it.
Since we are left with 3 days to work in the raiding enviroment would it be ideal that as soon as we complete let's say ToS normal to move the farming nights from reset day? From personal experience the highest raid attendance occur on reset day on the farm nights and then people then to slack on signups. Also Friday some individuals go out or spend time with their loved ones and might not be there for it but if we are on ToS HC progress on Wednesday and Tuesday then Friday whould fit much better(personal opinion ofc).

I did make this mention so we can(maybe) adjust all there is to adjust to be in favour of our raiding progression.

There was talk of this so I'll try and answer.

Any and everyone doing it is liable to become a little fragmented and harder to keep a clear and consistent message. I do think that it's worth their being more voices that just those of the officers, however.

Anyone who would like to be more involved with the recruitment efforts can let the officers know and they will get in touch with some/all as appropriate to ensure message is set.

I think there is also a post somewhere that I always used to point people to. It's probably the one with the link for the application. I'm on holiday ATM and only on mobile so if someone can find/update that then should anybody be asked about recruitment then they can direct people there and to the officers.

Re: Important: New Raid Schedule and Survey Results.

I understand  what you mean Duff I really do. However we need to change with the times. The realm is so much smaller and  so is DMZ.

Take me for example I joined this guild not because of an officer or GM's recruitment post. Not because of the website, but because of a raider that chatted to me one day about DMZ and that I should join and when I made the decision to leave IW I remembered that chat, hence I am here now.

You say about telling officers you want to help pretty sure I have done so a number of time with no real answer. So here I do it again can I help YES OR NO. Of course keep message on point about DMZ but in my way (will not betray who I am).

Amateur infographics Duff, amateur. I feel sorry for anyone who has to work with that rubbish along side you tongue
[**That was a joke**]

Laughs aside, for what it's worth looking at the data I'd have come to same decisions too. It feels like the decisions were always geared towards the many, not the few. (I like this).

Final 2cents: It's my opinion that IRL connections have always been the strongest. I'm a little bias as Duff introduced me to The DMZ this way, but in general it's the best way I've found to form bonds. I don't have idea if you guys have "networks" of WoW players outside the game but Duff and I can attest to having found at least 1 other lifer who we nearly convinced to join us.
