Death Knight Changes

Expect more of these to come.

Death Knight

Skills

  •     Anti-Magic Shell: Now damage absorbed generates Runic Power.

  •     Blood Plague: Now has a 30 sec duration, up from 21 sec.

  •     Blood Presence: You assume the presence of Blood, increasing Stamina by 8% and base armor by 55%, and reducing damage taken by 7%. Threat generation is also significantly increased.

  •     Blood Strike: Now does 40% weapon damage, down from 80%.

  •     Chains of Ice: Now has a 30 yd range, up from 20 yds.

  •     Control Undead: New. Dominates the target undead creature, forcing it to do your bidding. While controlled, the time between the undead minion's attacks is increased by 30% and its casting speed is slowed by 20%. Lasts up to 5 min. 1 Unholy, 1.5 sec cast.

  •     Death Strike: Now does 75% weapon damage, down from 150%.

  •     Frost Fever: No longer reduces the target's melee and ranged attack speed.

  •     Frost Presence: Strengthens you with the presence of Frost, increasing Runic Power generation by 100% and increasing your maximum Runic Power by 30.

  •     Horn of Winter: Now grants 10% attack power instead of Strength and Agility.

  •     Icy Touch: No longer reduces the target's melee and ranged attack speed. Now has a 30 yd range, up from 20 yds.

  •     Mind Freeze: Now has a 15 sec cooldown, up from 10 sec.

  •     Necrotic Strike: No longer costs 1 Unholy. A vicious strike that deals 50% weapon damage, applies the Slowed Casting effect, and absorbs the next [70% of AP] healing received by the target. Slowed Casting clouds the target's mind, slowing their casting speed by 30% for 10 sec.

  •     Raise Ally: Now costs 30 Runic Power, down from 50. Now grants 60% health and mana, up from 20%.

  •     Raise Dead: Now has a 2 min cooldown, down from 3 min.

  •     Soul Reaper: New. Strikes an enemy for 100% weapon damage and afflicts the target with Soul Reaper. After 5 sec, if the target is below 35% health, this effect will deal 46113 to 53590 additional Shadow damage. If the enemy dies before this effect triggers, the Death Knight gains 50% haste for 10 sec. 6 sec cooldown.


  • Blood
  •     Blood Rites: No longer works with Obliterate.

  •     Bone Shield: No longer costs 1 Unholy. No longer grants increased damage with all attacks, spells and abilities.

  •     Heart Strike: Now does 90% weapon damage, down from 175%.

  •     Improved Blood Presence: No longer grants 4% damage reduction from Blood Presence when using another Presence.

  •     Rune Strike: Strike the target for 90% weapon damage plus
  • . This attack cannot be dodged, blocked, or parried.

  •     Scarlet Fever: Debuff duration increased to 30 sec, up from 21 sec.

  •     Veteran of the Third War: No longer reduces the cooldown of Outbreak. Increases your total Stamina by 9% and your expertise by 2%.


  • Frost
  •     Brittle Bones: Your Frost Fever also applies the Physical Vulnerability effect, which weakens the constitution of an enemy target, increasing their physical damage taken by 4% for 30 sec.

  •     Frost Strike: Now costs 35 Runic Power, down from 40. Now does 115% weapon damage, down from 130%.

  •     Howling Blast: Now has a 30 yd range, up from 20. Now infects all targets with Frost Fever.

  •     Might of the Frozen Wastes: When wielding a two-handed weapon, your melee attacks deal an additional 10% damage and your autoattacks generate 15 Runic Power.

  •     Obliterate: Now does 200% weapon damage, up from 150%.

  •     Threat of Thassarian: When dual-wielding, your Death Strikes, Obliterates, Plague Strikes, and Frost Strikes also deal damage with your off-hand weapon, and your Frost Strike damage is increased by 50%. All off-hand weapon damage is also increased by 60%.


  • Unholy
  •     Contagion: Increases the damage dealt by your diseases by 100%, and allows them to retain their full power when spread via Pestilence.

  •     Ebon Plaguebringer: Your Blood Plague also applies the Physical Vulnerability effect, which weakens the constitution of an enemy target, increasing their physical damage taken by 4% for 30 sec.

  •     Festering Strike: Now does 230% weapon damage, up from 150%.

  •     Master of Ghouls: No longer reduces the cooldown on Raise Dead by 60 sec.

  •     Scourge Strike: Now does 155% weapon damage, up from 100%.

Usefull tool, to time selfhealing ability as a tank, or make more damage as a DPS

great change, in the cost of runic power, tried often as a dps, just made alot frost strikes and out of runic power, and then Raid leader calls for a Combat ress, and have to make 4-5 attacks that generates runic power before I can make that combat ress, now 2-3 is enough, saves time, cause the abilitys to make those attacks are bound to the runes that has a cd on use for 6-8 sec. depending on how much haste you got... and the increase in health and mana, makes it more usefull for a raidleader, so he don´t ress someone who is just going to die if unlucky with aoe or simelare things, ofc. Druid ress is still prefered.

great, that it is now on same cd time as [death pact], death pact sacrifice undead minion to heal the DK for 25 % of his/her max hp., untill now, I had to cast [army of the dead] and sacrifice one of them 2 time I wanted to use it, if it was needet.

(■    Bone Shield: No longer costs 1 Unholy. No longer grants increased damage with all attacks, spells and abilities)
super, unholy rune is one of two runes needet for death strike, more easy to stay alive as a tank, the lost damage is so small, it´s not worth to mention.

(■    Scarlet Fever: Debuff duration increased to 30 sec, up from 21 sec)
(■    Veteran of the Third War: No longer reduces the cooldown of Outbreak. Increases your total Stamina by 9% and your expertise by 2%.)
The timing of the debuff should be easy hold, 1min cd on outbreak, 30 sec duration, after those 30 sec [plague strike] and then we have another 30 sec debuff.

(■    Frost Presence: Strengthens you with the presence of Frost, increasing Runic Power generation by 100% and increasing your maximum Runic Power by 30)
(■    Howling Blast: Now has a 30 yd range, up from 20. Now infects all targets with Frost Fever)
No more chosing between larger runic power bar, or longer reach in using howling blast, nice.

I have no comments on the % of damage increase or decrease.

  •     Desecrated Ground: Now does 1614 to 1876 damage, up from 1246.
  •     Blood Boil: Now scales with 9.6% of AP, up from 8%.
  •     Death and Decay: Now scales with 6.4% of AP, down from 10.2%.
  •     Mind Freeze: No longer costs 1 Frost.
  •     Pestilence: Diseases spread this way no longer do 50% of normal damage. (Now 100%)
  •     Strangulate: Wording change to add "Shadowy tendrils".

    Blood
  •     Scent of Blood: Reworked: Your successful main-hand auto attacks have a chance to increase the healing and minimum healing done by your next Death Strike within 20 sec by 15%, and to generate 10 Runic Power. This effect stacks up to 5 times.
  •     Veteran of the Third War: No longer increases expertise, now reduces the cooldown of your Outbreak spell by 30 sec.
